Excellent product at a good price.
I bought this item with the belkin USB network adapter so that I could connect my laptop and desktop PC in a simple network. My aim was to have the facility of file sharing and the ability to share disk drives easily. Installation was very easy (for both items) and only took half an hour. Most of that time was waiting for my ancient desktop PC to reload.

My laptop runs XP, and the card works without problems. I have not had to get any extra drivers from belkin. Also, I have created my simple network using Ad-Hoc mode, which one of the other reviewers says you cant do. You can, because I have! Also, you do get a manual ( in addition to a PDF version on the disk) which is concise and easy to understand.

The operating range seems to be quite good. The limit at my house is from one corner of the house up stairs to the opposite corner of the house downstairs, which is more than enough for my needs. The speed seems very fast, and I think it is on par with the wired system I have at work. I use my CD drive on the PC to play a music CD though the laptop as if I was using a local drive. There is no skipping, pausing or anything. Fantastic.

One word of warning though. One of my friends tried to the same as me, but forgot that he had firewall in place on both the PC and laptop. I remembered that my firewall software (Norton) has a facilty to scan the network devices and so enable it to work. He spent about a week messing before asking for my advice. He did the same as me, and his now works fine.

Excellent performance!
An excellent card indeed. I use this card for wireless internet access. While being cheaper, the card performs better than my friends £50.00 card. Easy installation and no troubles at all.

Unimpressive
Wireless networking is a great, fantastic technology. This is not great, fantastic kit.

My card arrived with no manual -- only a CD. The manual on the CD failed to mention Windows XP, and trying to install the Windows 2000 drivers resulted in failure. So, had to download XP drivers from the Belkin website. First black mark.

Second black mark: the XP software downloaded fails to use the native XP software to adjust settings and so on -- instead, Belkin software is used. Another system tray icon, another set of menu commands to have to navigate, etc...

Third black mark: the card is considerably heavier than the Buffalo card I thought the Belkin card would be replacing (quick change of plan now, having used the Belkin card).

All in all, not impressed at all by the card -- it took too long to set up, the bloatware is worse than what it replaces, and it adds too much weight to my laptop. Dont buy -- look for an alternative.
